Background:
Many people think that they can no longer be helped by chiropractic care after their back has been operated on. That is not the case! A study conducted on patients who had already had back surgery, but continued to have low back pain, demonstrated otherwise.
What Does the Research Show?
A study in the Journal of Chiropractic Medicine looked at 69 patients who suffered low back pain although they had undergone surgery. These patients were treated by Cox Technic, which we practice at Mills Chiropractic. This method involves slow, gentle, rhythmic stretching of the spine and is a very low-force method that does not involve popping of the spinal joints. After an average of 11 treatments over a period of 49 days, over 8 out of 10 patients showed more than 50% lower pain levels in their backs.
What is the Lesson Learned?
If you or someone you know has had back surgery, yet continues to have pain, don’t give up or turn to drugs to ease the symptoms. Cox Technic chiropractic can help, as a study has shown.
